Albania: the poorest country in Europe. Sadly, it has many stray animals, many of whom are in need of help.

Our loyal Belgian donor Genyflore Glorieux went there especially to see where our support is most needed.

She was most impressed by the Bambi Shelter near Tirana . Here's her story.

These are the girls: Ana and Genta

On the left you see Genyflore

Aria hit and helpless....

Now safely with them after an operation...

their regular work picking up animals in need from the streets and taking them to a veterinarian. Just such an initial medical checkup, including a necessary blood test and medication for the common disease Leishmaniasis, costs over 200 euros.

A few years ago, they were able to rent a large plot of land together, where they've already brought around 150 dogs. And what we find truly impressive is that they've already managed to get over 60 adopted. Albania is a non-EU country, so it requires a lot of extra paperwork and high costs...

They built the cages and fence themselves with the help of friends, and everything looked neat. Until a violent storm destroyed almost everything. Cages flew halfway through the air, sometimes with a dog still inside.

Just look at the photos. And unfortunately, that's happened twice since then... This prompted the girls to look into purchasing some more sturdy cages, preferably ones that can be properly anchored. They are for sale, but unfortunately, they don't have the money...

Because everything has become incredibly expensive: weak dogs need good food. Anti-parasitic drugs, deworming, vaccinations, and sterilizations are also very expensive.

So much so, that their bills at the vet and animal clinic have risen to the point where they are no longer welcome…
You can imagine how awful it is for them, that they can no longer get medical help if they find an injured animal somewhere or one that is brought to them, but for which no treatment can be arranged…

Fati: found completely bald.

Fati: What a difference after medication

Zeus: a sad stray dog...

Now a happy dog with them

A few months ago, Genyflore was deeply impressed by the enormous compassion both young women have for the many animals in need. That's why, after her return, she asked us to set up a small project for them.

You can see the results here. The reliability is excellent; Genyflore has thoroughly researched that.
Should we give these wonderful people who work hard in their shelter every day, both before and after work, financial support so they can continue renovating their shelter?

What a beautiful bond with each other!

Donations also help with the mud...

This is Milo still on the street...

Milo again, but now well cared for!

Because with another wet and freezing winter undoubtedly approaching, it would be wonderful if all dogs had somewhere to sleep... And so they could go to the animal clinic again with injured or seriously ill dogs...

Thank you again for your help and you can donate by making a direct donation through your bank
