Judicial ruling puts the future of Toro Jubilo in Medinaceli in jeopardy

In a landmark decision in the fight against animal cruelty in Spain, the Administrative Litigation Court No. 1 of Soria has declared illegal the municipal ordinance that allowed the celebration of the Toro Jubilo in Medinaceli, Soria. This ordinance, dating back to 1999 and modified in 2000 and 2015, has been annulled following a lawsuit filed by the Animalist Party with the Environment (PACMA) in November 2023, in a process that could spell the end of one of the last "embolado" bull

Het is gewoon hartverscheurend om een uitgehongerd dier te zien. Dat is nog erger als het mensen zijn die dieren achterlaten wetende dat ze niet aan eten zullen komen. In godsnaam, als je een huisdier hebt dat je om welke reden dan ook niet meer kunt houden, ga dan naar een asiel – laat het toch geen pijnlijke en trage dood sterven.




In Austin in de VS werd een hond in een krat aangetroffen. De mensen die de hond zagen dachten dat ze dood was. Je zag zo de botten uit haar vel steken en ze zat helemaal onder de uitwerpselen.



Toen de afdeling dierenmishandeling van de politie arriveerde, beseften ze dat de hond nog leefde. Ze werd meegenomen naar de dierenbescherming in Austin voor een spoedbehandeling.



De hond was nog maar een puppy. Elizabeth Mancera, een dierenarts, zei dat de hond nat en koud was – haar lichaamstemperatuur was zo laag dat de thermometer het zelfs niet kon registreren.


De hond werd Sophie gedoopt. Elizabeth praatte de hele tijd tegen Sophie, gewoon om te laten weten dat ze veilig was nu. Het duurde verschillende uren voor ze haar lichaamstemperatuur weer de hoogte in kregen.



Sophie is eindelijk op weg om helemaal te genezen! Het duurde meerdere dagen voor ze weer op haar eigen poten kon staan en kon wandelen. Ze moest zelfs een tijdje luiers dragen.


Na enkele weken woog ze 15 kg. Elizabeth kon gewoon geen afscheid nemen van Sophie – dus hield ze haar!
