Dangerous slide

Sometimes excursions can turn out to be dangerous, as was the case for a group of hikers with their dog.

Guide Emilio Huisa Tapia was leading a group of visitors through the canyon when he noticed another group standing still at the edge of a cliff in front of them.

Emilio immediately had a premonition that an accident had occurred. When he inquired with the group, he heard that a loose dog had slid down. Emilio took the initiative to descend and retrieve the dog.

The poor animal sat defeated at the bottom, without the grip to climb back up the slope. Emilio knows the canyon well. After carefully descending, he approached the dog. She was overjoyed to see him and knew that he had come to save her. He tied the dog up and began climbing back up.

Rescue in two stages

Once they arrived at the first plateau, he carefully pulled the dog up and called her to encourage her to follow him. The dog followed, encouraged by Emilio. When she was level with him, the guide took her in his arms for the final part of the climb. He was very careful to keep the dog safe and avoid slipping himself.

Eventually, Emilio and the dog managed to get to the top safely. The dog was more than happy to have solid ground under her paws again and to be reunited with her family. We are relieved that everyone is safe and sound!
