We have exciting news of a translocation in Indonesia!
https://www.warnasia.org/
YIARI, along with the BKSDA and other local government agencies, were called in after an adult male orangutan was spotted several times appearing in the gardens of local residents in Dusun Sumber Priangan, Ketapang. Its increasingly close proximity to human settlement indicates the destruction of its forest habitat, and therefore increases the risk of human-wildlife conflict.
|
After closely observing from afar, the team decided to move in and translocate the orangutan to Gunung Tarak Protected Forest; an area which is natural, safe from any human-wildlife conflict, and has abundant natural food sources.
|
After the orangutan was carefully anaesthetised and checked over by a doctor, he was then taken on a long journey to his new forest home. He was then released, eager and ready to return to living freely in nature and begin exploring!
Keeping this area of rainforest protected and orangutans safe wouldn't be possible without you, our loyal supporters - thank you!

This beautiful Tiger Heron - named Tigrin - was found on a local beach by the IAR Costa Rica team, unable to fly. Upon a closer inspection, it was discovered that she is still quite young, which could be the reason why she was found prone.
Initially her prognosis wasn't good, but against all odds and thanks to the dedicated work of the amazing veterinary team, Tigrin has made a full recovery and is now back into the wild! |

You may have seen our recent rescue of three bears in Armenia, ( article below) where our partners FPWC worked long and hard to rescue a family from deplorable, disgusting conditions. Aram, Nairi and Lola are all now safe in our care but they have a long road ahead of them in their journey of healing.
We've been blown away by the response we've received so far, but if you can make a donation today for these beautiful bears, we'd be so grateful - and there is still time to have your donation matched, and worth double!
If you have already made a donation - thank you! Your support truly means the world to us and if you would like to give again, we cannot thank you enough. |
 |
