No doubt about it, life can be tough for our four-legged friends who depend on us for food, shelter, and love. Even with all the horrible news we read about animals, there is still good in the world. This now viral photo shared by an Imgur user is doing just that: giving us hope.

After a recent snow storm hit Turkey, the Atrium Mall, located in the Bakirkoy neighborhood of Istanbul, opened their doors to homeless dogs so that they wouldn’t have to spend the night in freezing temperatures. 

All bundled up and warm for the night! Animal lovers stepped in to provide blankets for the dogs.

The kind people also fed all of the dogs, so they didn’t go to bed with an empty stomach.

One of the volunteers who gathered blankets and food for the dogs explained to CNN Turks, “All of us, if we can help as much as we can, all the stray animals will be in good shape and the street animals need help all over the world.” 

We believe every dog deserves to be tucked in at night! 

We are thankful the Atrium Mall in Turkey opened up their doors to allow the homeless dogs a warm place to sleep for the night. Even though Istanbul may seem far a way from the United States, many people don’t realize the extent of the pet homelessness issue right here. While we love and adore the dogs we share our homes with, the fact that there are some 70 million stray cats and dogs living on the streets gets easily ignored.

Taking the extra steps during the winter months will make sure our furry friends stay safe and warm. Most importantly, please never leave your dog or cat outdoors when the temperatures drop. No matter what the temperature is, wind chill can threaten a pet’s life. Pets are sensitive to severe cold and are at risk for frostbite and hypothermia when they are outdoors during extreme cold snaps. Exposed skin on noses, ears and paw pads can quickly freeze and suffer permanent damage. It’s also important to make sure your companion always has access to fresh, clean water. Beste lezers, U bent af en toe van mij gewend dat ik het artikel niet vertaal. Ik ben zeker dat u allen wel deze tekst kan lezen. Ik wil zoveel mogelijk tijd besteden aan het ophalen van handtekeningen voor deze petitie en deze arme, arme IJsbeer. Wat een hel. Ik heb dagen dat ik denk ik kan dit niet meer. Zoveel dierenleed! Dan zucht ik een paar keer en ga toch weer door met het schrijven van dierenleed. Het MOET !! Tekenen graag en delen. Alvast bedankt !!

Nowhere to hide from people taking photos – banging on the windows and shouting. Nothing natural, no attempt to create an environment that would meet the needs of any living bear – never mind this vast magnificent animal.

The bear is just one of a number of animals stuck within the Grandview shopping centre in Guangzhou. The facility has been dubbed “the world’s saddest zoo” and alongside two polar bears it also includes six young belugas, five walrus calves, a wolf and arctic foxes.

Chinese netizens have repeatedly asked the public to stay away - effectively shaming the facility from the outset. There have, however, been enough curious visitors to ensure that animals are plagued by a repeated knocking on their window to gain their attention for photographs.
 

Animals Asia Animal Welfare Director Dave Neale said:

“There is no excuse for any animal to be trapped this way but it’s widely believed that polar bears are one of the hardest of all animals to effectively provide for in captivity. Polar bears often exhibit ‘stereotypic’ behaviour as captivity restricts their natural instincts such as the need to forage.

“Polar bears require huge amounts of space. Large enough for them to walk, run, climb and hunt. The list of what they need is very long - to a point whereby you can only really answer that what a polar bear really ‘needs’ is to be free to live life in the wild.

“This bear has no peace and nothing natural to take comfort in.  What’s more information on how best to try to meet the complex physical and behavioural needs of captive polar bears is freely available and yet this animal has been willfully incarcerated in this way.

“We are calling on the Chinese public not to attend this attraction. We are calling for it to be closed down. This is a bear that suffers for what? For selfies? For shopping?”

Controversy has continued to dog the Grandview aquarium. Amid numerous critical reports it has been claimed that Guangzhou Ocean and Fishery Bureau is investigating the facility following rumours that animals died or were hurt when being moved into the aquarium.

Meanwhile Chinese social media posts have suggested unconfirmed deaths and subsequent replacement of animals. It is also believed that there is little or no on-site vet care.
