6 of the cutest photos of rescued baby bear Anuk taken from her mother who was sold for dog-bear fighting: She is now cared for in Sanctuary Ninh Bihn Vietnam ( lovely video)

Anuk: A tiny honey bear with a
long road to recovery ahead of him.

Honey bear Anuk was found in a taxi in Vietnam, curled up in a small box . Terrified by the unfamiliar surroundings and weakened by what must have been  a long and traumatic journey . Fortunately, the authorities noticed her and seized her. Most likely, she had been smuggled into Vietnam from Laos , with the intention of reselling her to countries such as Russia or the Middle East. Fortunately, rescue came just in time

I HELP ANUK AND HER BEAR FRIENDS RECOVER
Little bear Anuk
She was a tiny, trembling bundle of fur when she arrived at our home.
Her big eyes, full of fear and confusion , looked over the edge of her transport crate. It was heartbreaking to see how much this little cub had already endured. She weighed only 2.8 kilos and was not even two months old. Far too young, she had been brutally separated from her mother.

A long road to recovery
Anuk was severely dehydrated , suffered from chronic diarrhea and anemia , and needed intensive care . We fed her every three to four hours, 24 hours a day. The trauma she suffered has left deep scars  . But thanks to the help of our donors, we can help Anuk recover from her difficult start in life.  We will never be able to replace Anuk's mother , but fortunately she is now in the best possible hands. We have been able to stabilize her , but the road to recovery is still long. Anuk will need our care for the rest of her life.

BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh: a safe haven
Anuk now resides in our BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh, where she receives the care and protection she needs as a young bear. This is also where she got her name, which means 'bear' in Greenlandic.  Our sanctuary is her safe haven, because a return to the wild is unfortunately impossible for Anuk. Without her mother she would not survive , and due to a lack of rehabilitation programs in Vietnam, release into the wild is not an option.

I SUPPORT BEAR SANCTUARY NINH-BINH

From vulnerable cub to playful explorer
Today we see another Anuk . She loves milk, vegetables and ants. She likes to climb, dig in the earth and play in her outdoor pool. She happily attacks plants and enthusiastically licks up ant streams that she finds in her enclosure. Although she still has to practice building nests, she is already a real climbing championBut her recovery is still in full swing . Anuk needs permanent care , and you can help us give her the life she deserves.

Will you help take care of bear Anuk?
With your help, we can ensure that Anuk has  a safe life full of joy  Your donation helps us with the daily care of the bears in BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh. Think of nutritious meals , medical care , varied play materials and comfortable resting places . Together we ensure that Anuk and her bear friends get the love and attention they deserve.  Dear Erna, thank you for everything you do for animals like Anuk.

In Vietnam, the production of bear bile and the trade in bear products are prohibited. However, these cruel practices still take place, and many bears suffer in appalling conditions. FOUR PAWS is committed to putting an end to this abuse and provides rescued bears with a safe haven in BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh.

There are still 327 bears living on approximately 105 bear bile farms. These are mainly black bears. The animals suffer in metal cages, are dehydrated and are barely fed. We rescue as many of these bears as possible and transfer them to our own BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh. The government is taking tougher action and is working closely with us to take in the bears. In our sanctuary, the animals live in a safe environment and receive the best possible care.

What does BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh do?

  • Food to gain strength and live healthily.  We provide a balanced diet that contributes to the recovery and health of the bears.
Expansion of the sanctuary
In order to save and shelter even more bears, we are working closely with the Vietnamese authorities to expand BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh. With this expansion we can:
  • Freeing more bears from situations of abuse and mistreatment.
  • Providing bears with the space and care they need to recover and live a life worthy of their bears.
